BAMFORD EDGE & LADYBOWER, DERBYSHIRE, PEAK DISTRICT NATIONAL PARK, 2023

Bamford Edge is an overhang of gritstone rock that sticks out north of the village of Bamford, Hope Valley, in the Peak District of Derbyshire. These rocks were formed in vast river deltas that once covered the whole of the White Peak District. Bamford Edge overlooks Ladybower Reservoir, a manmade reservoir built between 1935 and 1943, The dam's design is unusual in having two totally enclosed bellmouth spillway overflows (locally named the "plugholes") at the side of the wall (one of which is in view here). 
 
This scene depicts a view towards the north-west, overlooking Ladybower Reservoir, and directly west, Win Hill.
